Before I Eat My Eyes & Ears, released October 8, 2012, by Bad Afro Records, is the third album from Danish psychedelic garage pop band The Setting Son. Self-produced and recorded in their Copenhagen rehearsal space, "The Bunker," this 10-track, roughly 30-minute LP departs from the band’s earlier works, moving away from producer Lorenzo Woodrose’s influence to a more self-directed, group-oriented sound. It refines The Setting Son’s 60s-inspired blend of psychedelic pop and garage rock with a raw, DIY energy. The opener, "Eat My Fear," sets a punchy tone with Kristiansen’s nasal vocals, while "Above the Rest," the first single, delivers soaring hooks. Tracks like "Terrible Town" and "All That Candy" offer catchy melodies with gritty guitars, and "La Luna" closes with a dreamy vibe. Compared to their bubblegum-psych debut and the angsty Spring of Hate, this album feels more varied, showcasing Kristiansen’s maturing songwriting and contributions from a lineup tied to Baby Woodrose, Sort Sol, and Emma Acs & the Inbred Family. Released on LP and digital download (first LP pressing included a free CD), with Kristiansen’s self-portrait cover, it captures the band’s evolving, blue-eyed neo-psych spirit.
