The Setting Son (2007)

The Setting Son’s self-titled debut, released in 2007 on Bad Afro Records, is a vibrant showcase of bubblegum psych with a raw, garage-rock edge. Led by Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen, the album stems from over 50 lo-fi demos recorded on a 4-track in his Copenhagen apartment. Refined with a full band and produced by Lorenzo of Baby Woodrose at Black Tornado studio in nine days, the 14-track, 30-minute album blends catchy melodies with emotions ranging from angry to melancholic. Standout tracks like “In a Certain Way” (the first single), “Running Demons,” “All I Want Is You,” and “I’m a Loser” highlight the band’s playful yet gritty psychedelic pop with punkish undertones. Released on LP, CD, and digital download. Its brevity, energy, and polished lo-fi roots make it a fresh entry in the psych-rock canon.
